it’s hard not to feel?underwhelmed with the state of the design industry today. one avenue i personally had always relied upon was designing artwork for bands. however now the music industry can barely afford to pay for the great designs they need to present their artist’s work, we are all having to find work elsewhere to make ends meet. this, along with other elements, is adding to the larger realization that now more and more of the market is being eaten up by corporations forcing designers to use their art to sell incompatible, emotionless products.
if you have a moment, i highly recommend registering to the (albeit commercially founded) ‘i love design’ site and watching this short interview with peter saville. i have been feeling a great weight on my conscience recently and after watching this i felt it all lift a little as one man defined the issue so succinctly. i hope many can take a lesson from this and things will change. thanks, peter.

another experiment using the first playground entry to animate album artwork. this one includes a song (might take some time to load it) and animates the equalizer right into the artwork.?check it out and select your favorite artwork. again, mouse-overs create even more effects.
one of the reasons we’ve started a blog is that we’ve reopened the playground (v). as such you can look forward to all kinds of (useless) pieces of code, graphics, animations and other fun stuff. the first is?a little flash experiment codenamed ‘ballgrid’. this thing was made in order to get used to Flash’s all new AS3 language and i tried to play around with coded kinetics applied to a bunch of randomly created balls in a grid. please mouse-over for some action, or don’t… for some other action.
hi. welcome to?our new blog.?it will be our news page from now on, hence the archived news posts dating back to the beginning. it will also be a place for a bunch of other things too. stay tuned.
we’ve just been told that ipa-nima.com is ‘site of the day’ over at designlicks.com. huge thanks to all involved, as ever.

three new sites from us today. the champagne guild, arm revolution and excend. each with a wild production story of its own that may or may not reveal itself as you peruse its pages. also be sure to stay tuned to swing state ’08, a teaser site we’ve built for a forthcoming political documentary of the same name.
tanitsakakini.com has done us proud. picking up site of the day at the design taxi as well as accolades over at pixelgangster, sheenook, linkage.nl, analogue, most inspired and the daily slurp. above all though it just won a DOPE award. thanks go out to those involved in making it and those who clearly appreciate it!
huge update here. new sites for tanit sakakini, the protomen, AWOMO and urban lifestyles. also check out a heap of printwork we’ve done for the protomen as well! been a good summer.
