record sleeve for the protomen's third album, act III - this city made us
_how
in 2005 our excellent friends the protomen released a self-titled LP now known affectionately as act I. a year later caspar and the band were introduced, and we began working with them to bring a fury to their visual artwork that felt appropriate to their unique music. by 2009 the protomen were ready to release another album, the second chapter in their story. it was called act II - the father of death. for this LP we made not just the beautifully complex physical artwork, but also a film.

16 years later the protomen finished what will be their third and final album as a band. act III - this city made us is its title and this is its cover. the caspar david friedrich-esque "rückenfigur" image was devised by the band and executed by john delucca and caspar. john painted it in his usual formidable way, and caspar drew the logo and took care of the typesetting and layout.

given the distinctly narrative based nature of the protomen's music, a new song (or two) will be released every week on bandcamp, just like watching a TV show.  those who preorder simply have to refresh the page each week to get new music.

it's a beautiful record, mark our words, and we hope you enjoy listening to it.
