montreal-based writer / director simon plouffe reached out to us after he saw our poster for lucy kerr's family portrait. simon had just finished his fourth film and was looking to make a poster for it. the film is called "les yeux ne font pas le regard", which roughly translates into english as, seeing through the darkness. a documentary on blindness caused by armed conflicts, the film follows the lives of several people blinded in different ways in different countries, and attempts to illustrate how they experience the world now.

the film is beautiful, moving and difficult to watch. we were excited to make a poster for it. caspar and simon came up with the concept for the poster on the phone together, and then after a few rounds landed on the version you see here.

the film will have its world premiere at the 2024 montreal international documentary festival, where it will compete for the magnus isacsson award.
