poster for the short film, eighteen.
_how
writer / director lucy knox reached out to us after seeing our work on family portrait, a want in her and pasta negra. lucy wanted a poster for her new short film, eighteen. the film is a documentary piece that follows a group of australian 18 year olds as they discuss their lives and their feelings about the future. we were moved by the work and interested to see how it could translate into a poster.

lucy explained the different ways she sees the work and what she believes it's about. caspar then sent her a series of treatments to illustrate the directions a poster could take. lucy chose the one you see here, which caspar made entirely digitally. the design was constructed using the 2025 instagram profile grid's 3:4 aspect ratio as a fundamental building block.

the poster explores how much these kids see themselves through the lens of their own phones and online networks. it speaks to a subsequent insecurity in their own self image and how important that image is versus who they are as people. the poster is also a conscious nod to the work of samuel burgess-johnson and david rudnick, whose work caspar was studying at this time.

_what
poster for the feature documentary, 9-month contract.
_how
we met 1991 productions' co-founders nino chichua and anna khazaradze at the berlinale a year ago. after seeing our poster for dea kulumbegashvili's april they got in touch again and asked that we might make the poster for their new feature documentary, 9-month contract.

we watched the film and were immediately drawn to the material. soon we spoke to the film's director ketevan vasahagashvili and together came up with the idea for the poster you see here.

the film is about a georgian single mother with a young daughter who becomes a surrogate mother in order to afford a home and provide for her family. the poster is in part a map of the damage done to the mother's body as a result of this way of life.

caspar made the poster with a printer, a scalpel, a needle, black thread, lights and a camera.

the film will have its world premiere at CPH:DOX this month and we cannot recommend seeing it enough. so if you have the means, do try.

cover for brooklyn-based author alex r. johnson's debut novel, brooklyn motto.
_how
the filmmaker and script writer alex r. johnson has written a novel. the book is called brooklyn motto and it is set in new york city back in 1998. the book details a few days in the life of a private detective called nico kelly. after recording something he shouldn't have recorded, nico finds himself caught like a fly in the corruption and malfeasance ridden web of new york's law enforcement community.

alex sent us a copy of the book and asked that we might design the cover for it. caspar read it and sent alex a few ideas. the final cover you see here is intended to be a bit cryptic, and only reveal its real meaning the deeper you get into the book.

the novel is out now through all major booksellers, and in fact you can order yourself a copy here. alex also made a playlist of 90s music mentioned in the book and that inspired the book here.
