_how
tim sutton introduced us to director jorge thielen armand. jorge had just finished work on a new short film set in venezuela and was looking for someone to make titles and a poster for it. we watched the film and leapt at the chance, for a thing of great beauty it is.

the film is called pasta negra. it tells the story of a family—a grandmother, a mother with child and her sister—trying to cross the border into colombia. the photography in the film is such a thing to behold that only upon a second viewing were we able to pay attention to the story.

we presented a range of ideas to jorge, and ended up making two posters for the film. the first poster you can see here, which—in homage to the beautiful collage work of najeebah al-ghadban—caspar made in the berlin studio with a wig, masking tape, a printer, paper, a knife and a camera.

the film was accepted into the sundance film festival whilst we were working on the poster. if you have the means we can't recommend seeing this film enough.
