poster for the feature film, tábor.
_how
director stanislav danylyshyn reached out after seeing our posters at the berlinale and other festivals. he'd just finished a documentary called tábor, which is a portrait of a roma family living in a small house in a ghetto in western ukraine. tábor is an isolated quarter of the city of berehove, where mostly hungarian speaking romani people live. the documentary shows human beings living in inhuman conditions. the film was shot in black and white, without any voice-over and has a particularly special visual look and atmosphere.

we presented stanislav with a few directions the poster could take, and he chose the typographic idea you see here. the poster focuses on the plethora of feral dogs and children scattered throughout the landscapes in the film, and weaves these figures in and around the letters that make up the name of the place. each letter standing there, decrepit, like the domestic structures in tábor itself.

the film is beautifully directed and photographed and is particularly insightful and moving. do see it if you have the means.
